About this product

Product Information

EveR WONDER . . . Why governments can spend without ever seeming to run out of money? Why some countries are rich while others are poor? Whether spending or saving is the best cure for a bad economy? Where inflation comes from? Why its so hard to catch a fish with your bare hands? How An Economy Grows And Why It Crashes Understanding how all the pieces of an economy fit together can be a daunting task especially when the experts cant seem to do it. But when you get down to the basics, it is much easier than you may think. How an Economy Grows and Why It Crashes uses illustrations, humor, and accessible storytelling to take economics off its lofty shelf and put it back on the kitchen table where it belongs. This straightforward story of fish, nets, saving, and lending exposes the gaping holes that lie hidden in our global economic conversation. With wit and humor, the Schiffs explain the roots of economic growth, the importance of trade, savings, and risk, the source of inflation, the effects of interest rates and government stimulus, the destructive nature of consumer credit, and many other economic principles that are so frequently discussed and so poorly understood. The story may appear simple on the surface but it will leave you with a powerful understanding of How an Economy Grows and Why It Crashes .

  • Best book to wake people up for the coming collapse.

Though not the most in depth, technical explanation of debt backed fiat currency and economics the book does not try to portray itself as such. Instead think of this book more like a great introduction to US economic history, abridged, as to where we came from where went and what our ultimate end destination is. The puns and similes to the people in Usonia and the US are uncanny and very amusing. It is a lot like a family movie, like Shrek. The children can read it and understand it while the adults can laugh at the jokes like Brent Barnacle dropping money from palm trees or Jim W Bass asking Hank Plankton if he was the same guy who used to work at the companies that caused the 'hut' crises. Granted a lot of liberties were taken, for example the characters that portray Greenspan and ...

  • The world makes so much more sense.

This books makes economics engaging. The author was able to take seemingly complex concepts, break them down into a simple-to-understand story, and make an economics book easily readable. Buy this book - the world will make a lot more sense to you afterward.

  • Great book

A bit simplistic but to the point. Recommended for any student interested in economic principles. I am only half way through and so far, I can grasp economic concepts very easily. Once you read that book, you'll understand why keynesian economics is not the way to go

  • A must read!

This book is great! It really gives the reader a chance to understand basic economic principles and removes the mystery of this field of knowledge. I highly recommend this book for everyone, since economics is something that actually can effect or own lives.
