Not Touch Sensitive, Not One Single USEFUL Tone
I was misled by the brand name Alesis, which implies at least a minimum standard for decent musical gear. But alas, this keyboard is designed more to be a kid's toy than anything a musician can use. All the voices sound super cheap, with way too much effects in an effort to make them sound a little better. Just in case you're a musician and think it would be nice to add an extra keyboard on the cheap - don't waste your money. This is strictly a toy for kids to play with and laugh at the unusual sounds it creates ("unusual" because no other presumably high-end brand would dare put out a product that sounds this horrible). This is an instrument you keep loaded with batteries and by the bed to practice things like scales, finger independence, pick out stuff by ear, etc. The sounds gets ... This is an instrument you keep loaded with batteries and by the bed to practice things like scales, finger independence, pick out stuff by ear, etc. The sounds gets VERY old VERY fast, and the lack of touch sensitivity leads to ear fatigue within the first few minutes - there is no delicacy whatsoever in the sound. I got a deal on this keyboard, which thankfully included a stand and a 9 volt AC adaptor whose polarity can be reversed for powering effects pedals which are typically 9 volt, center negative (the adaptor comes wired for center positive). Of course the stand can be used with any keyboard, and one can always find a use for a 9 volt power supply. So, maybe 30.00 worth of stuff that can actually be used. Don't even buy this for your kid to learn with; the horrible sound will drive you crazy. I wasn't aware that Alesis would ever put their name on something like this - live and learn I guess. This kind of sound does not belong in a full size keyboard, and in fact sounds worse than some mini-sized keyboards I've played around with.
