Exceptional acting throughout! "The Street" is so terrifying I hope he earned Britain's top award for Villain portrayal. Jane Tennison has her work cut out for her in this movie. No punches are pulled here. (They never are in this series!)The good girl lead doesn't always win. She isn't always looking good. She isn't always brilliant. She isn't always safe. The bad guys DO win and they are breath-stopping brilliant in their evil. The weak DO lose. The cops aren't always the good guys. Jane's sleeping-around tendency makes the image in the mirror more difficult to gaze upon, but she is a politician first. How realistic Mirren makes this character. Tennison is a brilliant crime solver after stumbling over herself a few times. To play in this man's world, she becomes like a man and gives ... Exceptional acting throughout! This is the fifth in a series about a womam being a chief inspector in a police department at Scottland Yard. I think it illustrated the way women have to harder themselves when put in a position of authority. It shows the pubic and private life of such a woman. I enjoyed watching all of the shows in the series. They first appeared in the U.S. on PBS. Sometimes they rerun them on Mystery.
