In Lost in Time, you play the part of Doralice Prunelier, who at the age of 27 in 1992, becomes instrumental in the 21st century Space-Time Police (STP) search for a master criminal, Jarlath Equs. She is chosen (unknowingly on her part) in 2092 by the Central Computer of the STP to assist in the search for and eventual arrest of the thief Equs because of her historical-temporal ties with him. <br><br>Equs stole a sample of some radioactive Americium 1492, a material with huge potential as a revolutionary military threat that needs 3,000 years to "cool off." He devises a radical plan where he takes the material back three millenniums in history and hides it in an Egyptian tomb, slips back to the "future" and waits for the opportunity to use it. <br><br>Unfortunately, he gets sidetracked in 1840 on his return to the future (present) and marries one of Doralice's distant (time-wise) antecedents, thus creating a future temporal link. The game takes you to three locations in the past and two specific time periods. The interface is mouse controlled (with keyboard support) and uses a hybrid on-screen point-and-click menu system.

CD-ROM version MUCH BETTER than orignial floppy version
This is one Excellent adventure that was made by Coktel Vision (they’re the makers of Inca and Inca 2) and with very intriguing puzzles and traps. Lost in Time threw me at first, in that it gives you no choice as to whom you play the game as. It starts you off in the dank and musty hold of a ship in 1840. Like it or not you are female, DORALICE ships captain and inveterate gambler, throughout the game. As a male I found this a bit disconcerting at first. Once into it, however, this became a moot point. The player is rapt within the intricacies of the interesting plot of the game. The adventure takes place in three locations and two time periods. This game I was playing back in 1996 on my old 486 DX2 computer and what I clearly remember about this game are the puzzles. Although I love ... Although I love those ridiculous puzzles from such games, this game is absolutely fantastic in that area. All the puzzles are logical, so if you really think it through, you’ll be able to solve them. Also I like the way you are quite safe. You can stand still on a given position and think about the puzzles and your next step. There isn't any bad move which cannot be undone. Most part of the game (and most interesting part) is just a flashback - i.e. during a conversation with a time patrol agent you're describing what has happened to you. But instead of simply describing and watching it, you have to play it out. I know this seems a bit strange, so to put it another way, when the flashback starts, you need to make it to the point where you entered the game (and in another time). :))) Why to get CD-ROM version? Because the CD-ROM version of Lost in Time contains additional and longer video sequences with a higher frame rate and audible dialogue (the subtitles from the floppy disk version were eliminated). The whole part of the music and voices is recorded on the CD itself as an audio track (i.e. playable on audio system). The game is fiendishly intricate and will provide you with unending enjoyment for many, many hours. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I highly recommend the CD-ROM version.
