About this product

Product Information

Dude! Like this killer wave totally beached Greendog while he was stylin.' Talk about a bummer. While the shore was wailing on Greendog's head, a totally rad but cursed pendant got stuck around his neck. That is so bogus! Anyhow, to appease the Aztec gods and lift the curse, Greendog has to find six pieces of the Surfboard of the Ancients. Gnarly!

Greendog -- The Beached Surfer Dude! will take you through the rain forest, the Aztec crypts, the beach, a tropical aquarium, a subway station, Jamaica and other tropical locations. You'll run, jump, scuba dive, skateboard, pedal-copter, in-line skate bounce (on objects), swing (on vines) and fly (with help from flying creatures) through 12 levels of sheer lunacy.

The pendant's curse makes most everyone and everything you come in contact a little insane. Crazed crabs, loony tourists, plucky parrots, dopey dragons, poisonous piranhas and other squirrelly enemies will attack. Luckily, you are equipped with a boomerang-like flying disc weapon that comes back to you every time you throw it. In addition to dodging or killing enemies, you must avoid water traps, spikes, blazing dragonheads and other obstacles.

Throughout the game you can find power items such as cola, which restores health, super discs, which zip all over the screen, clocks, which freeze enemies, and umbrellas, which make you invulnerable. For every 10,000 points you score, you can up the power of your disc (up to three times normal power). You score points by scarfing down junk food, knocking out attackers, and picking up certain items. Occasionally, Fetch the wonder pup will appear onscreen to help (by gnawing on enemies) or hinder (by eating your food) your progress.

So what are you waitin' for, dude? Beg, bum or borrow a copy of Greendog -- The Beached Surfer Dude! and appease the Aztec gods!

  • Quirky, off the wall platformer that teeters on the edge of obscurity

When I first heard of Greendog, it didn’t really appeal to me. I was too busy destroying things to be bothered by a quirky platformer whose protagonist is a too cool for school surfer dude. I didn’t want to put down my hard earned cash on a game that wouldn’t satisfy my destructive urges. Luckily, I had the Sega Channel and was able to play games I normally wouldn’t give a second glance without the risk of spending $40-$50 for. As blood thirsty as I may be, I found Greendog to be underappreciated. The only way I can describe the graphics are beautiful. If you are fond of jungle and beach landscapes, Greendog is a sight to behold. The temple levels are on the minimalist side, but how detailed do you need stone to be. The music has an island flavor that fits well with the theme ...

  • Greendog: The Beached Surfer Dude (Game Gear)

In this game you play the role of a surfer called Greendog who discovers a gold pendant while out surfing. Unwittingly he puts the pendant on and discovers it wont come off. A bikini clad girl tells him that the pendant was made by the Aztecs long ago, and that they cursed it so that whoever wears it will be attacked by any animal that comes near them. Worst of all the person wearing it is unable to surf. The only way Greendog can lift the curse and remove the pendant is to find the six pieces of Aztec treasure and put them all together and the only knowledge of the whereabouts of the treasure is stamped on the back of the pendant. The gameplay involves you getting from the left end of the level to the right while fighting off wild animals with your trusty Frisbee and using your ...

  • Blandly time waster.

This game is basic 90's shovelware at its finest... bland music graphics that are not too impressive. I have heard a lot of people say this game is terrible I however, don't think so. It's average at best and the music could be far worse (Sonic Spinball anyone?). Give it a try for curiosity sake you could do worse...

  • Greendog: The Beached Surfer Dude

I absolutely love older video games, like Sega Genesis. They are easier to play because there are less buttons and options within the game. At the same time though, they are difficult to beat because you can't save it; you simply have to play the whole way through with only a few lives. Bottom line: I love Sega Genesis! Besides possibly Nintendo, these are the ONLY video games I choose to play!!!
