Cold Steel reputation is well respected in the industry and by camper and sportsman ...The only thing I would change is the scabbard,though secure,,,,the Kukri can not be accessed very easily. When I was a teenager, I was given a Kukri which my uncle brought back from India....I loved it and used it on camping, fishing and hunting trips....The cold steel is just as good if not better than my old one that I had stolen from me.It holds an edge very well...has great balance and well made....I expect it to serve me well. Expected more out of Cold Steel.
Well the height of these machetes Cold Steel makes aren't whatever I'm reading about. Not really that great. Couldn't even cut one in shrub without three or four whacks and that's with it sharp. Does sharpen easy and the handle is better than what I thought. But the steel just isn't as good as the reviews you read on it

Kukri came dull. Ok, to be fair though it has much more of an actual edge than the other cold steel machete that i has purchased but still have to be given a complete edge and due to the shape of the kukri it was not easy to generate a proper edge but once in there it is a pretty awesome machete. 1055 carbon steel Made in South Africa. Handles are perfect for machete Other than that it is worth itKukri came dull. Pretty thick and seems to be good quality. Size is good, as is weight. Sheath is mid range but still good. If you want a do it all outdoors knife then this is it. It is rugged, nothing much special, but worth the price. It is basically a plate of steel cut to shape. It's like an old beater truck, works well in all conditions and you don't feel bad abusing it because you know it can take it. All around great product and worth the price.Pretty thick and seems to be good quality. Size is good, as is weight. Sheath is mid range but still good. Very well made knife. True to the “ Cold steel quality”
Easily sharpen & steel is of the quality to hold the edge thru continuous cutting various types of hard wood. Of course you have to know how to sharpen it. With the wrong angle the edge won’t hold as long. But, even so it would probably hold long enough to do quite a bit if cutting. Balanced well feels good working with it. I’ll give it an 8 on a 1-10 scale.
