Sure to become a Civil War classic to be read and remembered." - W.E.B. Griffin, author of Final Justice " Gettysburg is a creative, clever, and fascinating 'what if?' novel that promises to excite and entertain America's legions of Civil War buffs." - James Carville "As historical fiction this stands beside The Killer Angels . As an alternative history of Gettysburg, it stands alone. The mastery of operational history enables the authors to expand the story's scope. The larger-scale, more fluid battle of Gettysburg described is internally consistent, a logical consequence of the novel's challenging major premise. The narrative is so clear that the action can be followed without maps. And the characters are sometimes heartbreakingly true to their historical originals." - Dennis Showalter, former president of the Society of Military Historians "The novel Gettysburg puts forth a highly plausible and exciting scenario of a Confederate victory in the Pennsylvania campaign of 1863. The authors exhibit an in-depth knowledge of not only technical details, but also the various personalities of the leaders and how they could have reacted had things gone quite differently from history as we know it." - Don Troiani, noted Civil War artist, "Two respected historians, one horrific battle - and the challenging question of "what if...'' AOK. Item as described, reasonable condition (as described), excellent price, reasonable packing and shipping time, no problems. Thanks. (Sorry, I don't do star ratings when some are automatic, as it's unfair to buyers to have eBay pre-empt any of the scores. You should complain to eBay, as your star ratings would have been very high.) I can't rate the product until I read it. It's unfair for eBay to require a product rating in order to send feedback! The guys at eBay are heavily into control.

  • Fictional history

While it is fiction, it uses real persons of the past. While we can only guess how interaction really was, the writers seem to blend our history and biographies well.

  • no conflicts here.... excellent book

As usual, Gingrich, Hanser and Forstchen created living words that came off the page like a hot little minni-ball! Everything flowed right along and the pace just kept on coming. More than adequate descriptions, details that added to the scenes, plots, and direction of the book. I'm really glad to have all three in the series... But then, I usually buy what Gingrich sells............... I'd vote for him for President given the chance.

  • Absolutly great book!!!!!

An absolutly fantastic read for any civil war buff who ofeten wonders WHAT IF? Well written spellbinding, Couldn't put it down. The detail of the suffering and carnage were a bit over the top. Newt's ability to make the story feel like reading history instead of fiction is remarkable, as well as how he makes the anguish, and compassion of the military leades seem so real.
