    Misunderstood

    Very capable, somewhat noisy at the controls when zip is active; noise is not heard thru outputs. Not recommended for use as a drum machine like an MV or MPC. Perfect for recording , matching and creating different grooves, riffs and other music and samples which can then be manipulated in a vast variety of ways 100 to 250 mb at a time. Easy to replace the Zip drive if necessary. Great sounding piece of equipment.

    Don't even think of using for Drums

    Very outdated and one of Roland's biggest flops ever made. All samples are streamed from the ZIP DISK. There is NO MEMORY CHIPS! Even a little snare must be read from the ZIP...AND IT'S VERY VERY LOUD AND DISTRACTING. It's a nice concept but executed poorly. This really is a sampler without memory. It would have been better to have been built with a 5mb basic ram chip for your small samples (drums) and THEN the ZIP drive for longer.
