About this product

Product Information

A heartwarming coming-of-age tale set in 1940s Yazoo, Mississippi. Willie Morris (Frankie Muniz) is an introverted eight-year-old whose best friend is Dink Jenkins (Luke Wilson), a high school football star. Willie's mother convinces his stern father to buy Willie a puppy for his ninth birthday, in light of the fact that Dink has left Yazoo to fight in the war. Immediately, Willie's world brightens. When he stumbles upon a team of evil bootleggers and welcomes home a despondent Dink, he must learn a very valuable lesson about life. Based on Morris' memoir, MY DOG SKIP should have even the most hardened viewer reaching for the tissues.

    Partial review of MY DOG SKIP

    This is a gift for my grandson to go along with the book, so I can't speak to the movie content or quality of the movie. However, it is a new packaged movie and came very fast. I expect the movie will be as wholesome and enjoyable as the book was for my grandson of 10.

    My Dog Skip

    My Dog Skip is a great movie for all ages. It teaches how some fathers are over protective of their children.How growing up in a very small town is charished by the closeness of neighbors who are always willing to help.How some kids get bullied by other kids.But by most of all a kid growing up with his best friend, his dog. The story progresses though the life of the dog,Skip, and really tears a hole in your heart during the scenes as Will,the boy, grows up and leaves for school abroad and while he's away Skip ages without his master and dies peasefully of old age. Even the most strong hearted person needs to have a full box of Kleenex next to them while viewing this movie.

    ***MINIMAL SPOILERS*** Willie Morris( Frankie Muniz) gets a Terrier named Skip for his birthday. Willie's father( Kevin bacon), a wounded War Vet, is against the idea of Willie having a dog, but Willie's mother, (Diane Lane), convinces the father to give Willie the experience of the responsibility of pet ownership. Skip is a dog for anyone; smart, lovable, and most of all: loyal to the end. Based on the Book by the true Willie Morris. Numerous Special Features. All worth viewing. So is the movie about Skip. We all know a Skip or two in our lives. To quote Dr. Seuss, the Author of many a children's books: " Don't cry because it's over - smile because it happened".

    Great movie!

    I've been wanting this movie for awhile! My mom it when I was younger and I watched it all the time. So happy with this, its in great condition and everything! Definitely brought back some good memories!!!! Love love love!

    A great movie about best friends

    I had this movie on VHS and wanted the DVD. It a wonderful movie about friends and loyalty even if one is a dog. You get pulled into the love these two share between them.
