As much as I love it's predecessors this game is just cool and amazing the graphics look more realistic thanks to the rage engine that the developers use to make it, the story is good but what makes it different from the previous games is that instead having the story focus on you (player), the game actually has a protagonist and the amount of characters have so many personalities aside from that the controls are tight and slippery at first glance making cars feel more realistic as intended and the camera is abit annoying because it's set to default but other than that I'd suggest you change the controls and camera to your liking, cruising around los angeles is just magical it really makes you feel like you're driving in los angeles you'll recognize alot of land marks such as Santa Monica, Hollywood studios and many more including a depiction of South central if you have the complete edition but other than that it's really amazing, the roster of cars and bikes decreased but the amount of car brands increased you have many different types such as import tuners, muscle cars, luxury sedans, suvs, bikes and exotics as well as low riders.all of them have special abilities such as zone, agro, roar and emp. Zone slows down time to help you take sharp corners and close accidents, agro makes your vehicle undestructable for a certain amount of time and pushes your enemies out of the way, roar makes your vehicle send a air wave that sends other npcs and other racers out of the way and emp sends electronic shock that stops your opponents car for a certain amount of time. Since the city is filled with other racers they all have different difficulties based on their color and I know this might be controversial because so many people have told me this game is hard because the map is huge and the racers tend to drive alot faster and take sharper turns but I don't think that's the case because the racers have colors on the map that shows you how easy or hard they are, green is easy, yellow is medium, orange is hard and red is the hardest they all have their respective difficulties as in tended so differently from how hard do you think it is based on how hard you make it and the rule is to use the right car for the right race and practice on the easier ones before getting on to the hard ones later on. Cops also make a return and they appear both in freeroam and during races they will try and catch you and you'll get arrested and fined if you get caught but eventually you'll learn how to lose them other than that the game was way ahead of its time in 2008 I'd highly suggest you to play this game if you're a fan of racing games Read full review

Okay, so I’ve bought this game several times and transferred from console to console over the span of a few years and I still continue to enjoy the game to this day. You can tell that the developers intended to put FUN back into racing. From 45-50 vehicles you can customize down to the bone of each car to the limitless time and effort you can put into your racing skills. Midnight Club continues to be one of the the best games I have ever purchased. I also want to add that this game when purchased with the complete edition and online capabilities unlocks a whole new world of racing. A lot of people enjoy the online experience but I’m just so pleased with the game that I’m cool riding solo 😎. Great game, great price, great experience. The only thing I would say is that it’s uncommon to get your hands on one of these disks. Nor game stop of any other game store has this game in stock. I was lucky enough to continue to find copies throughout my searches. Thankyou developers! And Ebay!Read full review

I agree with most of the other reviews that say how the game can be difficult at times. The races are color coded to reflect just how difficult they will be. Green being the easiest and red being the hardest. And for the most part it is accurate. Red races and even orange races are hard just as they were intended to be and after the patch I actually think the green races are too easy but they are still fun and for people who are not great at racing I think it was a smart decision to make it more accessable from the start. So expect easy to be easy and hard to be hard and most of the time you will have to retry the hard races repeatedly to win and they will test your patients. For me the most important thing in a racing game is how the car handles and in MC:LA they nail it. The cars grip the road and have excellent handling characteristics. The interior view is second to none and really gives you the feeling of driving the car. I like how when you use the brake to slingshot you from the start of a race you really get a sense of the horsepower flowing through the drivetrain as the car lurches forward and you get that slight edge on the compitition. The graphics and sound are excellent and the game keeps a solid framerate even when going 200 mph. There is some occasional pop up and some rare instances of texture loading but overall it is a great looking game. Although it doesn't look completly realistic I like that the devs decided to use a bright color palette and it reminds me of the style seen in need for speed underground. I also like that there is a night and day time cycle which helps keep the visuals varied and it even affects the racing depending on whether it is daytime, dusk or night. There is also rain that effects the handling of the cars. Unlike alot of racers out now MC:LA's environment feels alive with people and cars filling the city with life. There are also police cars patrolling the city and they will chase you down for driving recklessly through crowds of people or for speeding through the city. If you can escape them you recieve reputation points but if you are caught expect a hefty fine. Its alot like the police chases from need for speed most wanted and although they can be annoying if you are trying to get to a race or chase down a rival, it generally adds alot of fun and excitement to the game. I also like how many hidden shortcuts there are and it keeps you focused and alert for any paths that may help you win or escape the police. The game has a leveling system that keeps you pushing forward to unlock better parts and more races and it works well. The amont of customization you can do is great and you will spend alot of time making your cars more powerful, handle better and look awesome. Earning cash to make all these upgrades doesn't come easy and losing it to the cops really makes you want to avoid getting caught. You can also win cars in certain races. There are also "powers" you can use in the game, like slowing time or one called "roar" that moves traffic out of the way and although these "powers" that are available for your cars/driver are a bit over the top they are fun to use and are helpful winning tougher races. If you like racing games than your going to like this game. I saw one persons review say "all you do is race cars" huh!? This is not GTA or Saints Row its a racing game and its one of the best out right now. I give it a 9 out of 10.Read full review
Midnight Club LA is $15 digitally, so you’re saving a good bit of money here. Shipping is also pretty fast. Case had a slight crack in it so I just swapped it out but that’s the only complaint. Game works, and came with all the stuff it comes with like the user manual and what not. Great buy.
