Doom in the 3DO is not the best port. But it's playable. It has the best controls of any port and the best music. However it lacks frame rate. The game was never optimized, because of its developer being rushed. The walls have high resolution where as the other ports have slightly lower resolution, the way the game renders horizontally and vertically was never optimized. It's like cutting your graphical settings up on a pc that's just above minimum requirements. Great collection piece.

Can you imagine the worst version of Doom being made for the most powerful system of its time? Imagine no more because it is reality. Doom on the 3do has the worst graphics of any version, the worst game play and worst sound! Doom on the Super Nintendo was superior to this piece of junk! Imagine playing the game in only a partial screen with flighty controls and you have this. Avoid this at all costs as it is easily the third worst game ever made for the 3do.
This version is good. Not great. But good 4 out of 5 stars.

DOOM is my third favorite game of all time, and as such I enjoy playing all the different ports of DOOM thats been made. This version on the 3DO is not a bad port of DOOM. It has a new and improved soundtrack which is definitely the highlight of this port. However, the 3DO severely chugs during gameplay. The frame rate is pretty low, and the screen has to be shrunken down in order to get a playable framerate. This, along with the Saturn version, are some of the poorer versions of DOOM that were made. This is still definitely worth purchasing however if you are a collector.
The worst port of doom, but the music is good and it's not unplayable
