This is a near necessity for a tactical/combat/home defense 870, along with a light for target ID and sling for retention. Low ammo capacity, especially on short configurations, is a concern for 870's. This addresses the problem with more rounds stored in a place faster and more readily available to the user than coming out of some sort of belt holder, bandolier, or pocket.
