  • Bright Lights, Good Album!

    Bright Lights, Big City is the soundtrack album for the film of the same name. Although the movie wasn't a unanimous critical success, and actually lost money at the box office. The album is surprisingly good, with some excellent tracks by contemporary arists, some of them exclusive to this album. "Century's End" by Donald Fagen is such a track, and it's worth the price of admission alone. An excellent song released by the artist in one of his less prolific periods, it's essential to his body of work. And it fits the theme of the movie aswell (in an ironic sense, that is). Another exclusive track is Prince's "Good Love", a lovely little gem sung in his sped-up voice, that came close to being released twice earlier; on his original 1987 triple album "Crystal Ball" and his alter ego ...
