    Good, but could have been so much better

    Let's get it out right at the start - I am a big fan of the Dransfields. I used to go to see them at the university folk club back in the late 60s, and they were always terrific value, so it's a shame that I can't give this disc the accolade that I might have done. The music is absolutely fine, and Barry's playing is well up to standard (Robin very much takes a back seat on most tracks). Whether or not you like the electric sound is personal taste - I personally don't have a problem with it. What I do have a problem with are the vocals. Barry has a very effective and attractive voice but I simply cannot hear the words. Yes, I know that I am at the age when you could expect some deafness (and I won't totally deny it) but yet I have a copy of "Contrary to popular belief" by the Dransfields ...
