    Just the job

    I struggled and failed to remove the chuck from my drill press and ordered these as a final attempt. They worked like magic, just took a gentle tap with a pair of hammers (one each side) and the chuck popped off. Clearly using the right tool for the job in the first place is a lesson I needed to learn.

    Hammer Safety

    I immediately started with the 2 1/2 pound ball peen and worked my way up to a 4lb. Sledge. There was a nice shoulder so I thought it would be easygoing. In the end the taper won and both wedges were destroyed. At one point I tried a vise and still nothing. I greatly underestimated the j3.

    great product!

    had to fabricate a spacer washer to tighten gap 'tween quill and chuck. And then five taps or so with opposing hammers and vuela, chuck free! Well worth the money!

    You may need more than one set

    I discovered one set of #6 Jacobs wedges was not enough. My Jacobs chuck had a rather long Morse taper and I need 3 wedges to complete the chuck removal.
