Post office did its best to delay the shipment. Spent 5 days in a WI distribution center and another 4 days at a ME distribution center. Would recommend "priority mail" to the seller. A lot more reliable. And the seller added an unappreciated "be sure to leave us 5-star feedback" sticker on the top of the product container that I had to soak off with WD40 before I could reuse the container. But ... the product itself is fine.

Works well,but no microSD port.
Bought this model so I could use micro-HDMI port to mirror display to "big screen" to instruct Sunday School students on Kindle Fire use. It's not ideal due to lack of microSD port and operating system differences, but it serves my purpose .

Loved this model EXCEPT ...
This was my third Kindle. The second lasted a little over a year before it died while I was on vacation, which was a strange coincidence, since the first one also malfunctioned while I was on vacation! (It lost the ability to pick up wifi.) I wanted to keep this particular model because I didn't want to have to buy a new case for it. Well, this particular model worked fine for about 3 months. Now it freezes up and I have to shut it down and reboot. ALL THE TIME. I am extremely disappointed! That said, I still plan to upgrade to the 8" Kindle in hopes the bugs have been worked out. I just hate the idea of learning a whole new system if I go to an iPad or tablet by another company. Fingers crossed.This was my third Kindle. As a novice, can't compare , but satisfied.
I purchased this as a used unit, slightly scratched. I have no Idea as to how it was previously used or cared for. Cosmetically, it was good looking. I have no experience with tablets, but this is doing more than I need at this time. I use it mostly for lyrics that I write as a songwriter. These are not online, so it's hard to get on some tablets. I just email to the cloud, and it's there! I tried to write on a "word" app, but it's clumsy with all the auto correct and second guessing my intentions. I don't think it will ever replace a laptop, but as far as casual surfing and email, words with friends etc., it seems to do well. Still concerned about battery consumption, and how to optimize for longer use. I assume less stuff installed would help, just load as you need? They have many free ... The web is pretty much full function on most everything. The unit is a 2012 model which is about 2 years old at the time of this review, but new to me. I did have to figure the year out on my own to buy an after-market cover. Wish it could be better identified to differentiate from all the other Kindle Fire HD7's! There are many years/models/configures using the same name. I think batteries drain looking for Wi-Fi if roaming.

The Kindle Fire Hd is a nice little tablet that is great for watching videos and games. I had to root the Kindle before I could access the Google Play Store but It is worth the 30 minutes to have full control of it. I am not to thrilled with the amazon UI and I think I may flash my own rom but for an average user I would say it would be fine. If you just want to search the web,read your kindle books, listen to music, watch videos then stock out of the box is for you. Just keep in mind that this device comes out of the box locked for Amazon ONLY! If you want more functionality or ability to customize it then you need to root this device or just get a different device.The Kindle Fire Hd is a nice little tablet that is great for watching videos and games. Kindle Fire HD 7, my personal review. STORAGE This particular model is the 16 Gigabyte model, which to me, even though I do a lot of media: pictures, videos, etc, is plenty of storage. I have about 30 app loaded on my Kindle Fire HD, approx 200 songs, and 100 JPG's, and I'm still not to the halfway point of my storage capacity. EASE OF USE The Ease of Use category for the Kindle Fire scored high with me. It runs a version of Android Gingerbread operating system, but with a .apk limitations of using the tension .kdl instead. Once you get over the slight learning curve using the Amazon Marketplace (if you're not already familiar with it), the platform is pretty straight forward and self explanatory. the applications screen is the first screen you come to (after initial setup). CONNECTION The Kindle Fire HD is capable of WiFi, bluetooth, and MTP connections. I thought they could have made Android Phones more compatible, since it is running an open source Android OS. The Kindle Fire is Not capable of mobile data, but VOIOC is possible. RESOLUTION The screen resolution is outstanding, no question is high definition. Very compatible with Netflix and Hulu, but not so much with flash and java while in the Silk browser that comes stock on the device (to which I have found no alternative, free or paid that will run on this system) CAMERA The camera has something to be desired, especially since it does not come with a camera program. It has one front facing approx 3mp cam with no flash or auto-focus. BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT Since like I mentioned the Kindle does run the Android operating system, it does not support Google Play and most of the apps in it. Plus many many more apps cost, even the ones free in Google Play.
