    Hand Winch Suitable for horizontal pulling.

    If you are planning on using this hand winch to lift loads vertically, you are better off getting a Worm Gear winch from Dutton Lainson. It can't lift 1000 pounds vertically. The teeth will break. Maximum vertical lift would be under 500 pounds. Otherwise this winch is an excellent value for the price for use as a boat winch. Another reason not to use this as a winch to lift vertically is that if you loose hold of the handle when in free wheeling mode the handle spins around like a propeller and could break your arm or knock your teeth out.

    Good winch

    Put this on my garden tractor trailer to be able to pull any thing up the ramps if it doesn't run. Should work as intended. I haven't actually used it for that purpose as of yet.

    Fantastic Winch

    Fantastic winch and great value. Winch works well, was easy to mount and it is easy to use. Use to lift heavy gas containers up from dock to pontoon boat so the tank can be easily gravity fed.
