Blazblue Continuum Shift is the sequel to Calamity Trigger, a 2009 2D fighting game by Arc System Works. I had played it a few times with friends and I found a very interesting game, at first sight. The graphics are great, with beautifully animated characters and lots of special effects. Now that I bought the game, I can say the visuals aren't the only thing great about this game. Gameplay-wise, the game resembles most of typical fighting games, specially Guilty Gear, so it's a very deep game, relatively easy to learn, but hard as hell to master. The music is also fantastic and the voice acting is very professionally done. But the two aspects I found it more amazing about Blazblue are its story mode, with an intricate plot and interesting characters, and, most of all, how unique each character is. There aren't plenties of fighters, but each one is so special it's like playing a different game each time you pick a new character. Each one has a 'drive', a sort of special move that plays different for each character. The only drawback would be the possibly confusing plot for those who haven't played the original game, though the game tries to explain it as well as it can (You can always watch the story mode in youtube). Despite that, it's a extremely fun game to play, it should please anyone who enjoys fighting games, hardcore or not, and IMHO it's more fun than Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Mortal Kombat, two other well known fighting games with recent release.Read full review
Continuum Shift Beat all of its spectations down to a pulp, the gameplay and graphical design makes it in my opinion the best 2-D fighter of 2010. The Controls are still loose and great which is one of the most important things in a game like this. The music is by far one of the best i've heard from a fighting game and the storyline for each character is still off the charts amazing. All of the characters fighting styles have been balanced off to near perfection. In the last one some of the characters had a bit of an advantage over others which I found to be fixed quite well in CS. Overall I think the game broke expectations and although I would like to have seen another charatcer in this one, I think that the 3rd should have my furry friend to battle with. I would strongly recommend this game to more than the fighting gamers out there as trying this game would change your views on them to a good or even greater aspect.Read full review
Positives Great game if you like fighting games. Great story mode for a fighting game. Great tutorial mode for a game in general. I like the unique characters, you don't have a clones like Ryu/Ken/Akuma/Gouken/Dan/Sakura you get the point. Similar to guilty gear I hear so if you like that game you'll like this one. Negatives Complex tech parts of a game can be intimidating and a turn off for some beginners. Downloadable extra characters are too expensive
This is an excellent game from the blazblue series.Adding new charaters and other fun things to do as well as a steller soundtrack I shall be throughly enjoying this item
this is a fun and action packed fighter! if you like guilty gear or just like side scrolling intense fighters this is for you!
