This is an excellent bird feeder. But it definitely does not keep the squirrels off. Its sturdy, the lid closes well and it holds a good amount of feed( though the feed does spill out the bottom some). The squirrels eat from it just as often as the birds. For $7ish +shipping its a good value. Be advised that the only food you can put in it is black sunflower seeds because everything else will fall out the bottom. The sunflower seeds fall out as well but not as bad. I have to refill it every other day primarely because of the squirrels.

This is the perfect size and style to feed our smaller birds. They cling onto the mesh with ease. Larger birds like doves don't stand a chance at taking away much needed nutrition from growing cardinals and sparrows. We also had an unexpected visitor our feeder (see the picture); one bird we've never seen before. The ball feeder is easy to fill and the sunflower seeds lasts for days. Very little spills to the ground. I recommend this feeder above others!

The birds love these ball feeders. I use the black sunflower seeds and have two of them now. They put on a show as they crawl around the feeder trying to get the seed. Highly recommended.

This is the second one I’ve bought now. The first one had a long life until being drug off by a bear. The bear bent it all up but only one soldered joint broke. The squirrels have problems getting into this design and it’s easy to fill, well made and attractive.

This bird feeder is beautiful and of sturdy construction. We have tried many squirrel proof feeders in the past but the squirrels were able to reach through the bars and pull all the seed out with their hands or get their heads into the cage far enough to chew large holes in the feeder tube which allowed the seed to spill out. The cage on this feeder is a little deeper so they can't get to the feeder holes. We do have one tenacious squirrel who has beat every feeder we've had. He has learned to tug at the top until it opens and then he eats from the top. He did that with this feeder so we tied it down with a piece of string which he chewed through with ease. So we took the metal hooks off a bungee cord we had and rigged them together with a key chain ring. We hooked one end through the metal cage and the other hook over the ball on the top of the feeder tube. Happy to say he hasn't gotten it off and it's now squirrel proof. Read full review
