  • Possibly the 2nd best comic ever created

I can’t emphasise enough, the sheer genius that went into the pairing of Michael J. Straczynski with Olivier Coipel. The carefully thought out script/dialog by Straczynski perfectly matches the meticulously detailed illustrations of Coipel. The inking and colouring also are 2nd to none from Morales and Martin. This run by Marvel in 2007 still stands as a benchmark to what comics should be like. Engaging, thoughtful, emotional, witty, and thought provoking. As the human race evolves, so too does our requirement for art and literature. Long gone are the days when Marvel or DC could churn out ‘biff, bam, sock’ stories with no plot, no characterisation and shoddy artwork. Straczynski and Coipel here show how it should be done, and thus elevate comics to an art form worthy of respect.
