I am very GLAD I bought this mic
I film using a Sony AX 100 which Sony put a unique shoe on that will not except common accessories like an LED light, microphone or whatever you wanted to mount to the shoe. The ECM-XYST1M mic is designed to fit the unique design of the hot shoe on the AX 100. There are no visible wires on the mic because the data is transferred through the hot shoe mount as well as battery power so there are no batteries that need to be charged other then the battery for the camera. There is a shock mount built in to the mic for protection. And compared to some other external mics in my opinion this one looks pretty Awesome mounted on the camera and the mic comes with a wind muffling "dead cat" that actually doesn't look nerdy! And last but definitely not least how is the quality of the audio when using this mic? I love it. If you are just recording someone speak when you use this external stereo mic, it makes their voice sound more life-like instead of flat and two dimensional like it sounds when you record using the built-in mic. I am using the mic when I record live music, mainly rock and roll so the instruments are very loud through the speakers and even recording something that is that loud it added warmth to the sound and gave the tones more body. If you edit what you record into videos having quality audio makes your pieces much more enjoyable to watch so YES I would definitely recommend the ECM-XYST1M mic.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
