    Inexpensive replacement cable worth having in the glove box

    For older Garmin GPS models that use the proprietary connector, this is a good backup cable. It worked just as well as the original cable, except if your GPS uses a traffic data cable. In that case, it will still work and provide power, but obviously you won't get traffic data and the traffic symbol won't show up on the screen. I bought this cable because my GPS was flaking, and would switch between battery and DC power randomly. I bought this cable to try, but it did not help. It turns out the cradle was the problem (note: only certain models of Garmin use cradles). So if you are having random issues like me, skip the cable and go straight for the cradle. Newer Garmin GPS models use standard mini USB connectors, so check before ordering if you have the newer Garmin units. Overall, a good ...

    Better Than Original

    My Garmin Nuvi original charger was falling apart. The tip had fallen out, and I installed a paper clip as a temporary fix. Temporary did not last long and blew the fuse on my power socket. Time to replace. I order this one because it was advertised as an exact replacement for the original. Looked at several other offerings at lower price, and reviews were mixed. Received the charger and compared with my original. The charging plug was more substantial, better design and construction. The cord itself was slightly thicker. The cord plug into mounting bracket was fully molded, not an insert plug like the original. Overall, a very nice product. Would purchase again if this one wears out.

    Good replacement

    This unit does not have the receiver module that was on the old cable. I think it was for road conditions, but I really don't need it and I didn't specify a cable with build in receiver. If you need the receiver also, this is not the cable for you.
