Cheapest best derailleur
I have this derailleur on two bikes now. Cheap and works soo well. Sure, it's 'meant' for 7/8 speed but I've used it on a 10 speed bike no problem in friction mode. There is enough lateral movement just adjust the screwsVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Budget rear derailleur.
This isn't xt or dura ace level equipment, probably heavy, certainly not fast looking. However it shifts precise and smooth enough for my Surly LHT and my Rivendell. Will work quickly through a 12-36 tooth, 9 speed cassette in friction mode, tolerates a dirty chain and wet muddy trail and if it gets banged up it's replaced for about twenty bucks which is much less likely as that larger bottom jockey wheel means a shorter cage which equals less chance it gets struck while riding. It's a great piece of equipment and actually works great especially if you don't care about the panache of the higher end parts groups.
