Shure SM-11, great Shure quality but requires pre-Amp
I bought this mic primarily because I thought it wouldn't require a pre-Amp because it is a dynamic mic. Hoping I could use it by plugging it in straight to the PC. I was wrong, it needs a significant volume boost to be heard, at least 30db, preferably 50db. Obviously it is still a fantastic product. The package comes with everything you need to mount the mic. The sound is excellent with a pre-Amp. It sounds very clear, the lows come through sharp and clean, overall it delivers a bright and clear sound.

Shure Wireless Technology . Appears to be planned obsolescence . Be Careful
I was too hasty to purchase this. needed to do more research . apparently the transmission / receiver frequency on these older Shure wireless boxes is fixed . Unlike current technology which allows variable selection of frequencies . This receiver requires a microphone with the "EXACT" matching transmission frequency . . . this poses a problem for my purchase which did not include the mic . I now have to search for a microphone with that exact matching frequency to the receiver, or skuttle the package . Chances are, that will take too long and I'll lose money on this deal as it's going back on eBay for someone who can use it . P.S. the body pack, however, is adaptable and you can configure it for a variety of microphones , guitar, etc . . . but you have to wear the body pack and run a cable to it from the mic or your instrument . . . kind of half way defeats the purpose . but does free you up somewhat .

An excellent upgrade to a digital wireless system for our church
Purchased this with a separate headset mic and am very pleased with the quality of sound and the construction of the devices. Main drawback: The range is not great. I had to move the receiver onto the stage to get a clean signal. Our sound booth is about 150 feet away from the stage and this was too far away for a clean signal.

I'll never go back to cable
How did I ever get along with cable. We are an amateur duo, playing fundraisers, parties and performing with Bread & Roses. One skit required a wireless connection, simply for safety (too many people, too much movement) and I'll never go back. Fabulous sound - really, I cannot tell the difference between this and a cable connection. It's lighter, and I don't have to worry about stepping on it or holding on while I move around the stage. No problem with drop outs, but I'm never more than 50 feet from the receiver.
