Engineered for use for algebra and pre-calculus, the TI-81 graphing calculator is a must-have for students. This Texas Instruments model features a 96 x 64-pixel display and built-in software to enter advanced functions.The TI-81 display is large enough to show eight lines. Each line can be up to sixteen characters long. The number result of the calculation is displayed on the following line of the display. There is also plenty of room on the display to show the resulting graphs, and for more detail, you can use the zoom menu. You can adjust the brightness of the display based on the type of contrast you would like.Because of the calculator's built-in memory, you can enter and save up to 37 of your own programs. The memory also enables several features that can save you time. Among those features is the last entry option, which you can use to build on the previous result to save time in your calculations. To access the last answer menu, just press the 2nd key along with "ANS." The keyboard layout is user-friendly and allows you to quickly locate the most common keys for scientific calculations. Keys on the keyboard are grouped by color and function below the display. There are areas for each mode: editing, graphing, advanced function, and scientific calculator keys. The most common commands can be completed with the press of a key. You can access the second set of commands on the keyboard by using the 2nd key. Editing expressions right on the display is simple. Just press the insert or delete key, or press a cursor-movement key to navigate on the screen. Navigating between menus is simple as well. Just press the key associated with each menu.This Texas Instruments calculator is perfect for using to enter data for graphs. The calculator is capable of graphing up to four functions at a time. The memory allows you to save your complex calculations and information you've entered for later use with a simple stroke of a key. The Texas Instruments TI-81 model can perform one and two-variable statistical analysis. You can enter numbers on the keyboard in scientific notation too.The TI-81 calculator provides all the essentials found in other versions, such as all the key software and features of graphing calculators. TI-Basic code is still used.     Not terrible and does work and really cheap

    I like this calculator and the price and all, but sometimes the thing won't turn on even with the batteries in there. I've been thinking something's wrong with it but it takes too long for it to come back on and also the screen can be very hard to see sometimes, you have to constantly keep changing display in order to meet the room your in

    Speecheless quality for the price

    The calculator has almost no scratches, the screen displays all pixels, comes with everything, no engravings, and no wear on the buttons, all for $6. I could not recommend this anymore.

    The 81, the most straight forward grapher

    The 81 is great for your student who is getting their first graphing calc. It is also good for more advanced functions as well. It is simple to use, more straight forward than any other I have used. As I mentioned, it will get you through your trig and basic calculus. There are other more advanced models if you are going further into the sciences - though this one will work - if you take it that far with the 81, it surely will - because you can make it work. If you want the expanded stats/chemistry/etc functions - you will need a little higher model, though if you know your way around the 81, you should be ok.
