Buy genuine Yamaha replacement parts whenever you can, because quality and dependability is important.
This genuine Yamaha idler gear #2, which is used to help the starter to start the motorcycle, is a genuine Yamaha part, and that is as good as it gets.

The teeth are a little different, probably makes it engage better. Still noisy but it does work better. The cheap ones only have rubber bumpers on one side, this has both sides
