About this product

Product Information

In the tradition of the horror anthology KWAIDAN, TALES OF TERROR FROM TOKYO contains a series of ghost stories from all over Japan. J-horror writers Kihara Hirokatsu and Nakayama Ichiro collected supernatural tales from around the country to be made into short films for the television series TALES OF TERROR (KAIDAN SHIN MIMIBUKURO). The eight best shorts were chosen for this anthology film, featuring ghost stories with a variety of tones, from the outright terrifying to the darkly comic to the eerily touching.

  • Japanese Ring/Grudge-style psychological horror at its finest

Like the Ring? Grudge? Same directors, late 90's early 00's Japanese horror nostalgia in 5 minute shorts slowly building with a punch at the end. Some are scary, some funny, some just creepy like the Grudge. Sadly directors have gone the direction of shock/gore or cheap jump scares and don't seem to hit this same creepy suspenseful keep-the-lights-on, unsettle you for the rest of your life creepy vibe anymore.
