Buy only recent manufacture. Old warehouse inventory may have bad electrolytic capacitors.
This model FRS base station might work or might not. I bought one new in the sealed package but it has a severe noise on its transmit signal. Apparently it sat in a warehouse so many years that electrolytic capacitors went bad. Another same model base station I bought earlier works just fine. Make sure your purchase is a recent manufacture.
