I recently purchased the Canon Powershot ELPH 300HS 12.1 MP Digital Camera, and needless to say this camera is a beauty. Canon did it right when it came to adding extra features into this compact Point-and-Shoot camera, such as High Sensitivity in Low-Light Conditions, Great High Definition Videos (that you can zoom in on too), and easy-to-use interface and option controls. What I enjoy most about this camera is the clarity of low-light or nighttime shooting. Pictures turn out great and better than any other Canon Digital Camera I've had previously. Also the LCD screen is nice to look into, and the videos are well above average for a camera this size. It looks nice, it's easy to use, even in automatic mode, and works well for just about everything. What I don't care for in this camera is the inconsistency in its picture quality. Surprisingly, my Canon SD 1100 is more consistent in shooting closer pictures than this camera is. Some pictures you take will hit the mark, while the next snapshot will be a little blurry. Also, the texture of this camera feels like sandpaper. It helps with grip, but takes some getting used to. All-in-all, Canon created a beautiful, easy-to-use, vibrant 12 MP Digital Camera that offers HD video and zoom. If you're in the market for a solid 2011 camera that won't break the bank, this is loaded with features. Doesn't get 5 stars due to its inconsistencies in shooting, otherwise it'd be very close.Read full review
This is an older model Canon camera, but I like it. For those old-school folks who still like to use a real camera and not just a phone, this is good. One weakness is that you have to be careful not to put any pressure on the area surrounding the lens. The metal there is thin, and if it gets dented at all, it can keep the lens cover blades from opening properly when you turn on the camera. Damage to this thin metal can happen if you keep it in your pocket and any pressure gets put on it, such as by leaning against something, or sitting down if it's in your back pocket.

This is an incredible camera that has aged pretty well. The only function that I would ask for is manual controls, but that is not the purpose of this point-and-shoot camera which is superb. Video: I use it primarily for video-blogging and it is a tremendous camera! You can program the settings how you need them and instantly shoot video at full HD. Even more expensive cameras today onyl record in 720p, but this bargain shoots at 1080p as well and the quality of the video is excellent. The image stabilization is pretty impresive as well. Although I own a pro DSLR capable of shooting video, I prefer to record on this little camera. Size: It is very pocketable, is just a hair thicker than your iPhone. Battery: The battery life is pretty good for its tiny battery, which can hold an entire day of normal shooting no problem. And you can squeeze more out of it if you dial in the best settings in the menu (like turning off the welcome image and turning down the brightness in the screen; I usually leave it at minimum and I can still watch it in any lighting conditions) Ergonomics: It is a very small camera but will fit most hands pretty confortable, it is quite light for its features. Autofocus: Autofocus is quite fast and snappy in most lighting conditions. No problems whatsoever. Image Quality: Is is great for this size and price. I have yet to find another point-and-shoot this friendly that renders the same quality files. Extra features: Super slow-mo movie is awesome for some cool footage. The creative filters are fun but not so much use with apps such as instagram It is compatible with eye-fi SD cards, so if you can afford one, throw in one and enjoy the instant sharing of your camera! Bottom line: Don´t be caught in the Megapixel frenzy out there right now, unless you print everyday billboard-sized, you don't need more than 5Mpx for sharing, viewing in smartphones and facebook. This camera's 12Mpx is way more than you'll ever need. Its quality is undeniable, and for what it is worth is way better than many other brands and even newer point-and-shoots.Read full review
Very good, very small camera. Takes excellent photographs. I dropped my first one off a two story deck. Actually not that much damage for such a fall which attests to the cameras quality. Canon was not repairing them and the replacement they offered through their loyality program was a different model so I did not get it. I have always wanted another one and when I saw this offer I decided to purchase it. I am so glad I have one again. The fact that it is red makes it all the better.
