Quite pleased with the quality of the camera. Photos are nice, even with the kit lens. It can film 4k at 30fps, or 1080p at 60 fps. It has a built-in timer feature for time laps photography. It's also small and light making it a good travel camera. The camera body is well constructed, and it feels like a superior camera to others in the same price range. I checked out the Sony line, and Cannon line before making the decision to go with the Lumix G85. I'm completely happy with that choice. For me, I needed something I could film videos, while on my bicycle, so it needed the in body stabilization. Also, I needed a good camera for shooting photos of landscapes. This camera delivers on both. The battery seems to hold a long enough charge for my needs. The auto focus is slower than other brands like Sony & Cannon, but it still works well enough. I found switching to 1080p at 60fps makes batter video quality because it's capturing twice as many images in the same time frame. What I also like is that it uses the micro 4/3 lens platform. Autofocus hit or miss, and the product is ok, but if not using a high capacity sdxc memory card, it will split video files during recording. Use a high capacity 128gb or more SDXC memory card for it not to split on you.

THE CAMERA ARRIVED A DAY EARLY, EVERYTHING INTACT. GOT THE BATTERY CHARGED AND WENT AT IT..PHOTOGRAPED EVERYTHING..THE MENU REAL EASY TO LEARN, MANY OPTIONS AT MY DISPOSAL , WAS ABLE TO SET UP BACK BUTTON FOCUS, BUT AS I LEARNED MORE OF THE CAMERA, ITS TRACING SYSTEM WAS FASTER THAN DOING BACK BUTTOM FOCUS , SO I SWITCHED BACK. THE BUTTONS EASY TO READ, FOCUSING IS PHENOMINAL AS WELL AS THE 4K VIDEO ....ABSOLUTELY AWESOME AND I EVEN CAN TAKE STILL PICS WHILE I'M VIDEO RECORDING. LOVE THE SWIVEL SCREEN , THE VIEWFINDER IS VERY CLEAR AND DETAILED AS WELL AS THE MONITOR.....WHICH WAS MY MAIN CONCERN........IT SOLD ME WHEN I STARTED TAKING PICTURES. I LOVE THE CUSTOM MENUS AS WELL TO TOTALLY CUSTOMIZED YOUR CAMERA TO SHOOT THE WAY YOU WANT IT..THIS WOULD BE GREAT FOR BEGINNERS..........IT HAS SO MUCH TO OFFER.. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CAMERA.Read full review

First let me say that I hate to see a review stating "AWESOME CAMERA FOR BEGINNERS" although this is true it may lead you to think its not for professional photographers and this camera is definitely for both. I have shot pro for over 35yrs and I never get exited over a new camera, this is the first and only time I have paid money for anything but a NIKON and my first attraction to this camera was the ability to use my good Nikon glass on this camera and still retain stabilization . Yes ! you can do that! This camera also will zoom and pan by itself without touching it and a host of other great features to many to write here. The Only complaint people who are super picky say is the auto focus is slow and thats not really true, they just dont know how to set it up. is its auto focus as good as a nikon? YES. or a sony? NO but no camera is perfect in all respects because of patent rights.(Nikon, Sony, canon and Panasonic would have to work together LOL) This camera has THE MOST you can get for your dollar spent period. Lens and body stabilization, 4K, pan, zoom, image stacking, after focus, wifi phone control, lightweight, water resistant, CLEAN HDMI OUT, MIC INPUT, various great video controls and sound controls and more. The G85 is the best balance budget camera all around. There is nothing that can compete with it in its price range. Many cameras in the price range is missing one or more of the below pros: Pros: 4K 30p or 24p video @ a small 1.1 crop Very good in body image stabilization and can dual stabilize with compatible lens Great Picture Quality Unlimited Video recording time. Great ergonomics and control placement Flip out screen Mic-Jack Great lens support Great Grip, size and weight. I was thinking of the G9 but the price is more than double. The G9 has uncropped 4K @ 60p but its limited to 10 mins. It takes better pictures, has betters ibis and controls but the body is bigger, heavier and the improvement is not worth more than doubling the price of the G85 for what i use it for. The newer G95 has an even more corp in 4K than the 1.1 of the G85 but does support 4K 60p with unlimited recording time by its also double the price. Canon M50 is another alternative but that camera has very poor lens support and lacks IBIS. It has an even worse corp in 4K. The built quality is all plastic. Olympus em5 mark II: It does not have 4K video and does support dual image stabilization. The flash is also not integrated with the camera. Overall, I don't think there is any interchangeable lens camera in this price range can beat Panasonic IBIS system and features, sure some might have bigger sensors and might have better image quality but when it comes to videos, the g85 with its ibis and controls probably beats them all.Read full review
