    Dear Sir, I would not call this item a filter case, I would call this item a filter safe. It is extremely well made. It is not cast but machined out of a solid billet of tough plastic. I am impressed with the bottom machining of the "cup" at the bottom to hold the ceramic filter in central alignment. This will prevent the filter from contacting the inside wall during rough handling. All together a well made product. Best Regards SER
