McFarlane's Boy wonder from the Classic Batman TV series.
This Mcfarlane ROBIN action figure is just as durable as the Mattel ROBIN action figure, however, the Mattel figure has more mobility. Unfortunately, neither one of these figures actually look like the actor Burt Ward, furthermore, the Mattel Robin is taller and more leaner looking. McFarlane's Robin has a little more meat on his bones and his uniform is brighter looking. Figure's arm broke off immediately after opening the package.
For reasons I'll never understand, McFarlane designed this figure's upper arm in 2 pieces where the sleeve meets the arm. It's not a bicep swivel joint, it's simply 2 parts they glued together (and very poorly on my specimen). The first thing I do when I remove a figure from the packaging is move all its points of articulation. The joints on this figure are unbelievably tight, and the first time I tried to move it's left shoulder, the arm broke at the above-mentioned poorly-glued seam. I used super glue to repair it, and so far it's holding, but from now on I'll have to be super careful with this very rare and very expensive figure. It's exceptionally poor quality for the price, and I would recommend the Robin figure that comes in the Target exclusive lunchbox over this one (same issues, ... Magnificent Cesar Joker!
Bullseye! McFarland really scores with this Cesar Romero Joker figure. By far the best toy likeness yet for this character. For mondo fans like myself the sculpt appears to be based on his appearance in the 66' Batman movie, with a more styled wig than the series. (Cesar had a few different wigs during the course of the movie/ series and this one is the most iconic.) It looks like the wig is actually a separate piece that is attached to the head in production, so the placement can vary changing both the hairline and conture of the hair. The paint is great, with the all important black eyeliner clean on both the figures I got. The eyeliner could be a bit heavier and this would have really pushed a good likeness to a great one. (Sometimes there are still just limitations to the mass ... Bullseye! McFarland really scores with this Cesar Romero Joker figure. By far the best toy likeness yet for this character. For mondo fans like myself the sculpt appears to be based on his appearance in the 66' Batman movie, with a more styled wig than the series. A surprising omission (again probably a production limitation) is the lack of pin stripes on the pants. However this seems minor in light of how nice the figure is overall. Another real plus for long-time collectors is that the McFarland's are in the same scale as the Mattel ones from a few years ago, so you can mix characters and the Mattel Batcomputer and accessories are right at home with the Mcfarlands!
