Very durable!
My children love this camera! It holds more pictures than they could take in a day. It makes them work for the best picture, so they learn how to angle the camera, and what the best place to stand for the right light. Also my son dropped it over 8 feet and it not only survived but did not have a scratch on it. My ten year old loves it, but it is still simple enough my one year old can take pictures with it. I am writing this review due to the fact that I DO NOT have a Fisher-Price Kid-Tough L8341 Digital Camera - Blue. I bought one, but received a different model. That's ok, as F-P put out a bunch of these cameras and whichever one(s) you have, you have a neat camera. I am using mine for Lomo (Lomography) / ToyCamera photography. Lomo celebrates the imperfection in photos that are taken in a playful, experimental, I-wonder-what-this-will-look-like mode with a preferably low tech camera. The idea is to surprise yourself! What started out as a movement to save negative film now includes toy cameras, baby digitals, phones, vintage, throwaway, and all kinds of hacked cheap plastic cameras. Special effects are the products of light-leaking camera boxes, cheap plastic lenses, ... And it's fun! I am using cheap digital toy cameras for most of my pix. That means I save on film, developing, printing, digitalizing, & TIME. Which is especially appropriate as another lomo device is to snap as many pictures as you can as quickly as you can. Digital makes this possible as the cameras will hold 1,000s of photos -- just keep feeding them batteries. I have lots of cameras (even the nasty film ones) but I've found that using different Fisher-Price Kids-Tough models provides me with plenty of surprises -- some effects come built in and other effects are not even supposed to be effects. What more could I want? These F-P toys are sturdy, waterproof, easy to hold onto, simple to use, and relatively inexpensive to buy or replace. Which is where a problem lies: There are a bunch of different models and they look somewhat alike. They do have model numbers embossed on the underside, but they don't seem to follow any obvious pattern. Also the cameras may be similar, but not necessarily. You won't know til you've tried it. You've really got to pay attention to those model nos or you may get a different kind of surprise! Note that a blue-for-boys and a pink-for-girls model may be one digit different. (To my knowledge, there's no complete list of all of these cameras, altho some info is available online and, if you have it, the instruction booklet for your model(s). Finally, beware similar cameras without the Fisher-Price logo; altho I'm sure that other brands, like the VTechs, would be fun, too. So, here's hoping that you find a new fun-machine and it gets you out of the house. I'd like to have one of each F-P model to play with. At the moment my favorites are the black W-1537 for light-sensitive effects and the pink V-2752 for foggy pix. I have more to test, however. Looking forward to it. --donaldmoon
