This adapter will only work in servers that support bifurcation x4x4x4x4 in the bios for PCIe x16 slots. I successfully tested it on HP z440 in slot5 with 2x4TB and 2x256GB nvme as mdadm software raid1 devices. It will NOT work on HP z420 because they do not support bifurcation in the bios.
