The generator is utilized to power a Miller 875 plasma cutter. The generator starts every time, the output allows the plasma cutter to run and has sufficient additional power to run lights, electric saws, etc. I am extremely pleased with the generator, it fulfills all of the expectations I had before the purchase.

Started it up and it ran for 10 seconds and quit. then wouldn't even turn over. found a fuse that blew and replaced it. cranked and ran for 10 seconds and quit again. another fuse.... another 10 seconds of run time. Took to generac dealer and a diode was grounding out. 5 days later and wasted down time, we're up and going again.

Keeps failing. Ran wonderful at first, problems started after 100 hours and 2 years, when warranty expires of course. Only have 160 hrs on it so far. I use it for backup power and had it for 4 years. First, fuel supply actuator failed in the throttle body so it shuts fuel off, found loose wire so easy fix. Second, battery charger failed so the battery would eventually drain and wouldn't restart, had dealer work on that and they installed aftermarket trickle charger that got hardwired into one of the outlets, they said the idle control is what burns out the factory battery charger that they never repaired and they disabled the idle control on it and charged $400. Third, no power output what so ever, replaced fried Voltage regulator board, $100 on eBay Fourth, irregular voltage problems, 340 volts between phases, 180v Phase1 to ground, 120v Phase 2 to ground, 60v Neutral to ground. Don't know what to do, except spend more money changing circuit boards.Read full review

I wanted a portable generator that would run the whole house when the power goes out. The reputation and quality of Generac generators was the main reason for the purchase. The generator fired right up after the initial setup of gas and oil. Looking forward to using the generator for years to come.

Purchased 5==GP17500E units new from Generac. Cannot keep 5 units operable. Purchased in Spring, 2016. Now summer, 2016. Units have around 300 hours each. Have had three exhaust valves seize plus several other issues. Many as delivered from Generac. All units serviced per Generac owners manual with genuine OEM parts and Mobil 1 oil. These units do not have an "industrial" quality engine, they are Junk. They are failing more than what I would anticipate from an overseas, low-quality, mass production, manufacturer. The customer support from Generac is terrible, 24/7/365 might as well be a recording stating "contact a local distributor" Two days ago bought a store brand to substitute for the 17500k unit while it is in for repairs. Will never buy Generac again.
