This game is an excellent example of the quality that Capcom has been reputable for in their many Street Fighter series. There are some changes brought on by the Playmore crew, formerly SNK, makers of the Art of Fighting & King of Fighters, which is a welcome change. The idea is get two rival companies with games in the 2D fighting genre together & throw in all the fan favorite characters. There are many familiar faces to be found in this game from the likes of Ryu, Ken, Guile, Cammy & M. Bison to Kyo, Ryo, Iori, Terry & Geese. All retaining moves that are sure to strike a nerve in the minds of long time fans. Putting these licenses together is nothing new & is now a well known series in Capcom's VS. games lineup. With this bit of back information we are left with a title in the Playstation's last years at the bargain release price (if found cheap around here), it is hard to pass up. The excellent animation & smooth controls are now commonplace. Interesting elements are in place such as the groove system, the great new point system from Neo Geo past, the color edit mode, unlockables such as extra character versions & artwork & some refreshing option switches. Some memorable tunes with all our beloved voice over attacks are indeed intact. Favorite Japanese phrases as ''Shoryuken'' & ''Hadoken'' are a must & are welcomed as usual. This is indeed a game for fans to play the heck out of with repetitive fun throughout. Anyone can pick this game up & get a bang for their money but this title is one if you put a little time into, a new level of mastery can be found. Button mashing is becoming a thing of the past as more & more game play is added to these games. Even after many years of Playstation's initial release, the constant churning out of titles like these still improve upon the former. Having played capcom vs snk 1, pro, and 2, i'd have to recomend the second in the series, for it is far superior. With taht having been said, PRO rectifies problems that were found in one, such as enlongating the character roster, including morrigan from darkstalkers, nokoruru from samurai shodown fame, and a few others, that were missing before. One drastic and much needed change was the loading times which have been cut down signifcantly, no longer do you have to wait 15 seconds inbetween the rounds, and 30 seconds moving from one screen to the other. One major inconveniece is the ratio system (that has been corrected in 2) which makes some characters outrageously unbalanced, in power and strength. For instance if your favorite character is yuri from king of fighters and your playing against ryu from street fighter, there is an automatic disadvantage, for ryu is ratio two and yuri is one so its not you can play with your fav characters in a fair match overall. One interesting point inclusion is the pair match mode, whre you can pick two of any character and both have a level 2 ratio. There is some serious lag during fights where the are too many frames running at once, and this is not a seldom occurance. The groove systems add a nice touch of variety, and over all this game is very good for it's niche genre, but there are better alternatives out there. I recommend it to any Die hard 2D fighting fan.Read full review

it a good game but i dont like the fact that the buttons has change in this version for example if you want to do a roundhouse sweep you have to down and forward and the kick button at the same time. this almost make the game unplayable for a street fighter fan. the load time is long but it is a playstation 1 game. if you are a fan of the street fighter and/or snk than it should be a good game to pick come just to see the history of the game but if not but you love 2D fighting games than you should check out capcom vs snk 2 far more better.
It's not like the dreamcast version but it's still a great game
