You get what you pay for
This tripod was purchased for use with a small Video camera, about twice the size of a Go-Pro. I really wanted a nice smooth pan and tilt and this tripod has neither. It claims to have a fluid head, but doesn't act like it. It catches at either end of a pan and the tilt is just not stable. The tension adjustment is way too critical to get repeatable results. It is cheap, the tripod is stable for light cameras and this tripod would work well for light still cameras. It has a a weight hook to hang a sandbag from in case of wind or stability problems. It also comes with a lightweight carry sack. So if you want a real cine tripod, spend more money and make sure it has a real fluid head, and a return provision if you don't like its feel. A lightweight but solid tripod for video and still cameras
This tripod's 2-lb. weight makes it easy to take along on photo shoots. The lever-type leg clamps allow fast setup, and the detachable shoe allows a camera to be quickly connected and disconnected from the head. The integral leg braces help stabilize the tripod in the horizontal, although the smallest leg sections flex a bit, causing panned shots to spring back a bit when the head is released. I can get reasonably smooth pans with some care. As others have noted, the "pan head" effect is merely due to a thick grease in the rotating surfaces which makes motion smoother than simple heads. There is a very slight bumpiness to the movement, probably due to imperfections in the mating surfaces, but this is helped by finding the optimum tightness on the brakes, and may smooth out a bit with ... Certainly better to have than not! The head and hinge section are all plastic, which help keep it light weight, but beware of a fall on the pavement. The tripod is not suitable for long lenses and the camera must be balanced at its mount for proper head operation. The nylon fabric bag is fine for transport and protecting the tripod from dirt and scratches. The thin shoulder cord is just stitched into the ends and I would not be surprised if it pulls out. Also, a flat strap would be more comfortable. I like the hold-down hook on the center post! A definite help if used in the wind to prevent toppling, and the weight and tension does help stability when used with video. I think a small corkscrew for an animal leash and cord would be a handy think to take on field shoots. All considered, this tripod is just what I needed for lightweight still and video camera projects.
