    The AF-S 58/1.4G can create really beautiful images. It isn't a well corrected modern lens, doesn't have floating elements (soft near minimum focus distance) and AF is rather leisurely by modern standards However, the character adds to it and many of my favorite images over the years have been shot with it which is why I bought it again having sold mine a few years ago! Well packed and item is better condition than described! This is my 4th purchase and they always exceed expectations!

    Very expensive lens with questionable sharpness

    Very expensive lens with questionable sharpness, not only it has nothing special it is heavy and bulky. It can easily be damaged if one is not careful, I have seen many disfigured ones just because the lens cap was forced into the barrel. As to its intended purpose...it is used rarely for that purpose, I do not see any reason to buy this lens other than curiosity. No wonder many sell it soon after purchase.

    This item came in original box which was well packed. You need to "fine tune" to the camera for the best results. Once tuned-in the output is stunning.

    Nikon 58mm 1.4g

    Have used it a few times since I bought it and have to say that the image quality is very good. The more I use it the better I get at using it, which I think is typical for a lens like this. In fact, just took a photo of my wife that I think is my all time favorite of her. I don't think I would buy the lens new because the price is just too high. However, I got mine used at a good discount off the MSRP, and I am very pleased with the results I am getting.

    One of the greatest lens Nikon ever made.

    There're lots of good and bad review about this lens. I first want to let everyone know that if you only focus on the sharpness only, this lens may not be it. A lot of youtube reviewers only focus on that comparison with other 50mm lenses. You really got to look at the purpose of this lens, Character and Uniqueness. It is worth for the money for sure but only for people who understands why you get this lens. Check all the positive reviews and sample photos why they like this. You probably understand of it. This is not a simple 50mm range prime lens. So please don't even compare with other 50mm range lenses. Nikon didn't make this lens for that. If you understand the character of this lens, I'm sure you want to go out to take more shots.
