The plane was received just as pictured. It could have been packed a little more securely. The plane iron was extending ¾ inch from the sole when received. I actually measured it. It was not shipped that way for sure. The cap iron screw was loose, which the seller most likely did not know. The plane was wrapped in three layers of thin foam padding and placed in a box with crumpled-up newspaper. This was not enough to keep the plane from bouncing in transit, allowing the iron to move.
