    What's the word ?....THUNDERBIRD !!!

This Epiphone Thunderbird IV was listed as used, but arrived as a brand new item. At $278 it is a phenomenal value. The finish is gleaming, it plays, sounds and feels like its Gibson counterpart. The sound and sustain of the Thunderbird are legendary and this version is no exception. No Complaints !!!

    Bolt on neck Thunderbird bass

While this is my second Epiphone bass, this one is a bit disappointing. It is very eye catching but the style comes with a price: it does not hang well standing no matter what strap type or size I try. Not just neck drop but also the guitar casts away from your body like it is attempting to crash face first into the floor. Was supposed to be inspected and setup when purchased but was not. One tuner was mis-aligned, the bridge was improperly set, and the neck was back-bowed. The “inspected by Epiphone” sticker is a real joke! After a real setup, it plays well and sounds fine but then so do a half dozen other bass guitars I own. Just had to try one and did not want a thru-neck design so the cheaper Epiphone seemed like the choice. Guess I was wrong. I have to wonder if a Gibson ...

  • Awesome!!

Plain & simple... this bass is the cat's ass. Great action, VERY minimal adjustment needed, with a sleek and elegant feel. Although I'm usually more of a fan of active EMG pickups, the stock pickups offer a great tone for a wide variety of music styles. The bass style itself is edgy enough to offer s bit of attitude without screaming METAL like, say a Warlock or widow. Glossy smooth neck is way nicer than on my Epi Goth model TBird, and honestly I think the knobs roll smoother as well (although maybe that's due to it being 16 years old). No feet burrs whatsoever, however the corners of the nut could use a quick kiss from a file, which would be my ONLY complaint if I HAD to make one. All in all, great value at a great price.

  • Better than expected.

I bought this as a backup beater bass for practicing at home, but I like it so much that I plan to do some gigs with it. The listing said used, but there was no evidence of that, probably just overstock. The quality is amazing, what you'd expect of a Gibson not an Epiphone. I think Epiphone stepped up their game a lot in recent times having been disappointed with an Epiphone Les Paul in the past. It makes a nice growly tone and the fretboard is well finished with nice low action. The only downsides are, like with any T-Bird, some neck dive due to the fashionable headstock, and the long length makes it slightly awkward and hard to fit into some gig bags. Other than that, it's awesome.
