Easy Peasy like Lemon Squeezy
This is the best Digital Voice Recorder hands down. It is not complicated to use, starts record very fast and you can delete very easy. No learning curve. I totally recommend it.

Good for meeting recorder
Recording quality is wonderful for meetings, memos, instructions, notes, etc. but not is great for music, details, noises or sounds like that, the mic is powerful but not is magic. This product is easy to use. The PC software is simple, not standard in windows (vista) but is usable. The dimensions and weight are acceptable and the memory is enough. I used this for the office, school and home tasks with optimal results.Recording quality is wonderful for meetings, memos, instructions, notes, etc. but not is great for music, details, noises or sounds like that, the mic is powerful but not is magic. Olympus Digital Voice Recorder VN-4100
This is a great little recorder that is simple to use and very compact. I mistakenly gave my first one to my daughter and realizing my mistake, immediately went out and bought another one. It is a bit clumsy getting the recorded audio onto my PC but a short audio connector cable does the trick. It could use a SD memory card that would make it much easier, but for the price, it's a great little recorder. Voice quality is excellent, playback is simple and the four separate folders help me keep things organized. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a simple to use, great quality recorder that is small and very dependable. The AAA batteries also eliminate the need for a special battery pack/charger setup which is also a huge plus. Definitely worth looking at for value and ... Okay for simple recording
The Olympus VN-4100PC is an okay recorder for most tasks. I use it because it does have an alarm file, which can be used to alert an important meeting or as a nap alarm and such. The newer replacement Olympus version, such as the VN-5100pc DO NOT have the alarm feature even though you may see that feature advertised. Drawbacks include usb cable instead of flip out direct connect, even worse is the mono mic, also mono line in/out. Who's idea was that? -- Some very old man with one ear? Saving music to a file can be done through line-in (Mic) port, and remember plays only in one-eared old-man mono. The cheap software included suggests you can download but seems not to do so. For a better unit at a lower price, but does not have an alarm file, do an eBay search for the RCA stereo recorder ... The Olympus VN-4100PC is an okay recorder for most tasks. Still have to record line-in, but does provide higher quality stereo voice and music playback. The Olympus VN-4100PC is adequate, if you need a file alarm. If not, then the stereo features and voice separation of the RCA and other recorders in the same price range or lower provide the better stereo recordings.

I like that it is small, easy to use, and great for recording phone calls (with the microphone attachement, which runs about $15-$20)--I'm a reporter so use this feature a lot. The PC model is better though because it allows you to upload the files and store on your computer (so you can control volume and s peed better and keep for record) or send to others. I don't see why they don't make all of them with this feature.
