This biography truly lets you in to Bettie's life and really helps fans and readers understand who she really was and had always been. I have been a Bettie fan for a long time and feel no desire to own any other book but this one as part of my collection and Bettie memorabilia. James and Karen along with Bettie herself put this book together with real quotes, stories, many beautiful pictures, all the good, all the bad and the ugly. Bettie allows us all to see it all and does not hold back with her own views and opinions. She comes across as that sweet daring and wonderful girl we all dreamed she was and shows she was still just that right till the end. I had so many questions answered and learned so much about Bettie that I would have never know but can still appreciate. She is a person ... This book humanizes Bettie in such a way that makes her seem like the girl next door that she never claimed to be, yet Betties has a quality that makes her so unique and untouchable. Bettie has always sent us messages through her pictures with her smile her eyes and unique and daring costumes (or lack there of) and poses. These messages are all different and individual to each of us but to me Bettie is a symbol of self love, acceptance, freedom and ultimately good in all her honesty and righteousness to be different. However, Bettie was the one who wasn't different at all she was just being herself which most were afraid to do back then and many try to be today. Bettie was always having fun just being Bettie which projected so well in her pictures and I believe this is why so many of us love and respect her for her honesty and childlike interest in new and different things, Bettie knew no fear and fear didn't know Bettie. Every photo told a storey and now with the help of this wonderful book, we can now see what the pin up Queen thought of all this herself. I highly recommend this book to any Bettie fan or any fan of good Biographies. If you were not a fan before you read it you will be when you’re done. This book just proves how real Bettie was in her pictures and what a fantastic and humble human being I have had the privilege through this book to really get to know. I have once again fallen in love with Ms. Page and have found new inspiration for my own work and life which I know you will too. Thank you James, Karen and of course Bettie, for this wonderful inspiring and fantastic depiction of a girls life all the way from Nashville Tennessee, to stardom, to a grand disappearance and a pin up Queen’s revival. Thank you James and Karen, for helping Bettie express herself in later years and helping her to also reap some benefits that had been stolen and taken from her and exploited by others for years. This book is the first book to read, if you have an interest in finding out who Bettie Page was. The book takes the reader on a journey through her life. It doesn't spend a great deal of time describing the topsy-turvy, unstable mental conditions she went through, but it doesn't ignore it either. I rate it excellent because it hits each major event in her life and is well researched. The pictures are wonderful and the book was an easy read because it kept your attention. If you need a copy though, it can be difficult because they don't sell cheaply. If you find a copy on Ebay for less than $40-$50 you better buy it.This book is the first book to read, if you have an interest in finding out who Bettie Page was.
