  • A Dalliance with Wolves

In my review of Twilight, I said that the book had more in common with "Catcher in the Rye" and "Pride and Prejudice" than it did with any vampire novels or stories. That still holds true, although be certain: I'm not comparing Twilight or New Moon to these books in terms of literary quality. There are few that match either. In New Moon we miss the vampires for most of the story, and Bella spends time with her friend Jacob, an Indian fated with becoming a werewolf, and fated to hate all "bloodsuckers", regardless of whether or not the bloodsuckers took human lives. (Btw, that little bit is cleared up at the end...what exactly their treaty entails. It's interesting, kind of, but I have to wonder if the author thought of it as the story was being written, and that it wasn't planned when the ...

  • Eclipse

When the unnamed vampire intruder entered Bella’s home and searched through her room, the errant vampire stole more than Bella’s belongings; her tenuous sense of security was also shattered. Unable to deal with the loss of her friendship with Jacob, Bella breaks all the rules to repair the relationship. The realization that her loyalties and her love were torn caused Bella to face the scariest monster yet: her own feelings of who truly held her heart. All in all, this book was much better than the second book in the series, being reminiscent in writing to the first book in the series, Twighlight. The characters are written in a three dimensional format where you can feel empathy and understanding for their indecision and actions. You KNOW them. And, that my friends, makes all the ...

  • It's not just for teens!

At 39, I thought I had moved on to more "in depth" novels---that's until my daughter brought home the Twilite Series. I started reading shamelessly like I was 17 again! I enjoyed all the books, but out of all of them (so far!) Eclipse was the most satisfying. These books bring to life a genre that has been beaten with a stick---and it comes out looking like a rose. Eclipse is exciting, and leaves you wanting more. I for one, am impatiently waiting for the next book in the series. While I'm waiting, you need to buy this book. It takes you into a dream-like world, with well fleshed-out characters that draw you in tightly. It's a tightly-crafted book of depth and character---and best of all, it's rollicking good fun!

  • Eclipse, the continuing Twilight Saga

Since I wanted to read Twilight before I saw the movie, I decided that I might as well read the entire series!! Again, this was an easy read (still at home sick in bed) and I finished in 1 day. I wanted it to go on and on. Good for Edward being old fashioned. It was interesting to hear the Cullen family stories of back when they were human (Oh Rosalie). I love any stories about vampires and love the romance in this. It makes me want to be a teenager again and maybe a vampire as well? Read it to become closer to your own daughter, it would make for some great conversation!
