OK sounding for an audiophile release. Buy if the price is right
I won't discuss the artistry of this well-known album. Many reviews have already been written. Rather, I'll focus on the sonic qualities of this particular release since it was not as easy to find this information. This CD is a re-release mastered by an early version of JVC's K2 process in Japan. They've since released a newer version (2006) on a CD that resembles a miniature record. There has also been a hybrid SACD release mastered by Steve Hoffman, which is supposedly the best sounding according to reviews I've found. I've only listened to this (K2) version myself. Some reviewers have said the sound on this release is harsh, but I haven't found that to be the case. It does have a sparkly high-end perhaps more suited to jazz, classical or ballads (as many of JVC's re-releases ... I won't discuss the artistry of this well-known album. Many reviews have already been written. Rather, I'll focus on the sonic qualities of this particular release since it was not as easy to find this information. Creedence at Their Peak
Creedence Clearwater Revival dominated the AM Rock radio airwaves for the entire year of 1969, plus most of 1970. Despite being straight ahead rock-n-roll, their "Bayou" sound jumped off the radio, and was unlike anything else. Willy and the Poor Boys is one of the group's three best albums (the other two are Green River, and Cosmo's Factory) and is my personal favorite, but you will not find me criticizing the others. Be aware that the remastered version and the old version share the same UPC. If you want the remaster, be careful! It says "K2" in big print on both the disc and the package. The genius of John Fogerty
Some believe this is CCR's greatest album. The songs fit perfectly together making for a rather country like feel. A couple of the radio hits are here "down on the corner, fortunate son" but what makes this album special is a terrific rendition of "cotton fields" as well as the classic "midnight special" John Fogerty at his very best.

A classic CD
I bought this CD because I gave the one I had to a friend who I thought would like it. I missed it so I went ahead and bought it again! It's that simple. Even though this album came out when I was a baby, I've heard the music all my life and I think it has withstood the test of time. This is a classic.
