Animatrix, worth the watching for anime and matrix fans
If you've found yourself caught into the story of the Matrix, nothing will please you more than the detail the creators of the Animatrix put into the back-story and character backrounds assembled in 9 shorts. As well for anime fans, shorts include two by famed Director, Yoshiaki Kawajiri, director of "Jubei Yagyu" and "Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust". Also including one short, Beyond, written and directed by Koji Morimoto, famed and renown for "Akira". Even Shinichiro Watanabe, a personal favorite director, had made a short in the series, whom is well known for two of his series being Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. With one more director to note who had included a short in the series is Peter Chung, the creator and director of AEon Flux. If you don't already have a strong liking for the ... What I like the most about this movie is they try to fill in those missing pieces to the puzzle of how the matrix began.I love the 9 different styles of artwork and animation(1-D,2-D,3-D,+ Computer Generated Images). The script and storyline is very illogical,Especially the part about robots having an exodus the middle east to start their own country.There are a lot of contradiction's in the matrix and animatix like when Morpheus(the man with the Zion historical access codes)said we don't know who struck first us or them.Humans need Sunlight for food more than machines who only need nuclear energy without any fear of radiation poison.So just for sake of the movie just play along.The animatrix does not mention anything about the oracle or the architect[who supposedly created the matrix].The ... I really enjoyed the matrix trilogy and wanted to see a bit more of that imaginative world so the animatrix dvd fit that need. I found it on Ebay for a good price and purchased it. The DVD is a collection of short anime films created, written and directed by several different industry pros familiar with the story of the Matrix including the originators of the trilogy. Each short film is a snippet of what might have happened inside and outside of the matrix. In fact Carrie Ann Moss, Reeves, Fishburne and others from the movie supply their voices to their animated characters. The only thing I didn't like about the shorts was some were too short and I was left blown away by the action but hungry and wanting for more. The DVD gift set that I purchased also came with an added bonus of a music ... What a trip...
This is literally the trippiest movie I have ever seen, and I am a huge fan of far out, psychedelic type films. If you're into that sorta thing as well and haven't seen this movie, watch it!!! Awesome cyberpunk vibe, and it's cool how it's not based directly off the Matrix, in the sense that Neo and Morpheus aren't actually in it. This is taking that surreal world to new heights, and takes you with em for the ride. The animation is awesome and half the movie looks like a damn dmt trip or something lol. Great inspiration, fantastic art, it's not for the limited at heart, who would rather watch Pat Robertson on the propaganda tube… this here is adventure time baby.
