    This art book is extraordinary because the choice and quality of the reproductions are superb! As an artist, I particularly resonate with Van Gogh whom I consider one of the greatest modern painters. My reasoning behind that claim (perhaps shared by many) is that Van Gogh was a great synthesizer of several styles and/or movements in Modern Art that we are still heirs to. For me, he combined Expressionism with the his then contemporary movement, Impressionism. In addition to these styles, he resonated to a certain degree with Gauguin, with whom he spent a short, but turbulent time with, in terms of Symobolism and Primitivism. And finally, I loved this book because it had reproductions of two of my favorite self-portraits of Van Gogh. I have a duplicate of this book and had those two ...
