Gunstar Super Heroes offers an excellent selection of characters and includes a variety of exciting gameplay elements. In Gunstar Super Heroes for GBA, you play as Blue and Red, who are brother and sister. The Gunstar siblings team up with Yellow to save their world from an evil empire. A thousand years after the original Gunstar Heroes game ended, Golden Silver, the God of Ruin, plans to return and bring the Empire with him. Blue and Red join forces with a team called “The Third Eye,” which is dedicated to stopping the Empire. Each playable character in this Game Boy Advance game offers a unique story with a different ending, so you can expand your gaming fun by switching characters. Throughout the game, you must defeat enemies and bosses, which become progressively harder as the game progresses. As you play, you search for treasure gems to release their mystical powers. You can choose from different difficulty ratings based on your gaming ability. Different difficulty levels lead to different storylines, so you can play new games as your skills progress. Like Gunstar Heroes, Gunstar Super Heroes for GBA is a run-and-gun genre game. Like the original, the graphics center on side-scrolling displays, and you must run to move your character forward and shoot to destroy your enemies. Unlike the original Sega Genesis game, the controls in the Advance sequel are more sophisticated. You are no longer locked in one place as you shoot, letting you move and shoot at different times to create more advanced attacks. You can use the A and B buttons to use melee attacks. Although you can no longer combine your weapons to create super weapons, weapon selection is more flexible than it is in Gunstar Heroes. Gunstar Super Heroes for GBA is a product of Treasure Co. Ltd and Sega. The original release date for the game was October 6, 2005, in Japan, and October 25, 2005, in North America. Treasure and Sega released this game exclusively for the Game Boy Advance handheld games console. Its ROM cartridges are not compatible with other games systems such as Atari, Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, PlayStation or PSP. It features a rating of E for Everyone, which means that its content is appropriate for all ages. Gunstar Super Heroes is only available in single-player mode. Therefore, you do not need accessories such as wireless adapters or Game Link Cables to enjoy the game. 30 AWSOME Minutes!
If you are a fan of the original Gunstar or like games like Contra or Metal Slug and own a Gamboy Advance or a DS then Superheros is a must have. For starters the games graphics are fantastic, i'm not sure if their are any better on the GBA and their even pretty darn good for the DS. The Gameplay is fast and frantic and varied, dozens of enemies pack the screen at one time and the bosses are huge. It has 3 difficullty settings ranging from easy too hard so even if you are not a super hardcore skilled gamer you can play through the entire game but for those of you who like a brutal challenge it will provide one. Problems? Sure, it is way short, only six levels which if your good you will play through in about 30 minutes and I also felt that after the first couple of fantastic stages the ... Many of the stages are the same, level design, enemies, bosses, there are some new gameplay elements and altered stages but a good chunk of the game feels exactly like the original game, but now on a handheld. Hardly a story but oh well, a fast action game like this normally doesn't have a riveting story. Gameplay Both play exactly the same and have 3 weapons to choose from. 2 are the same but the 3rd is exclusive to the character. Melee/Jumping is done with 1 button and shooting with another. By holding up and jumping you do an uppercut jump attack. Press jump in the air, or with another direction and you do an aerial attack in that direction. Really simple control and its beautiful. Shooting done with another button and you can fire in 8 directions. Also beautiful. There are explosions everywhere and tons of enemies to gun down and melee your way through and its a blast the whole time. There are only 5 levels. Intro Stage, 4 Gem levels, and Final Stage. But you will die. A lot. There different shooting styles like in the first game which gives you control options and 3 difficulties to select though so take your time going through the stages but it is a challenging game for the most part. You have a numerical life counter and if it hits zero, game over, start that stage all over again. There are only 5 stages so being sent back to the beginning of the stage is a fair punishment I find. The levels aren't super long but short to medium length bursts of hardcore action. Gunstar Heroes (GH) vs. Gunstar Super Heroes (GSH) GH had better weaponry options. There were 4 weapons in GH; Force (Machine Gun), Chaser (Homing shots) Lightning (Went through enemies to hit more behind) and Fire (Shotgun) and you could carry 2 at once to combine their effects and that was AWESOME. Though this meant you had to find the power ups in the field and exchange em in the heat of battle if you wanted something new. Not a big deal though. GSH however only has 3 weapons Chaser, Fire, and Red gets Force, and Blue gets Lightning. However in this each weapon has a Super weapon that you can activate when the weapon gauge has energy in it to unleash a very large and more powerful version of the attack. GH Characters were pretty bland but GSH characters were more fleshed out and had more character to them. Wasn't much but it was better in GSH. Overall This game is awesome and is a definitely good add for any GBA library. Its short, but pretty damn hard at times but still very fun to play. With 3 difficulty settings you can easily up the ante when you're ready to have a really good time on harder difficulties. Great game, you chould definitely get it if its up your alley, or pretty cheap. Its much easier than Contra games I'd say since you don't die in 1 hit but it can still be hard and awesome~

There's a lot of solid action and it's not something that you'll play once and forget about, you will return to it several times. It's got two different playable characters and three levels of difficulty for each, and it can be challening on the easiest setting. My Big problem with it is that it is so short. There are only six levels and each of those are about 10 mins of play time on normal. The levels are very diverse and interesting but they could have strecthed the game out a little longer I feel. All in all a fun game that can keep you occupied for some time. Something good to do if you have 10-20 minutes to waste or are in a car ride or something. It does what it ... I loved Gunstar Heros on the Genesis, so I wondered if this new "SUPER" version could hold up to its predecessor's glory. I pleased to say it did not disippoint. They even have a little intro talking about the original gunstar team. Awesome. I'm one for flashback sequences...especially when I can remember the original.
