Affordable Attenuation for Your High-powered Amp Bugera's PS1 is a 100-watt tube amplifier attenuator that helps you achieve thick cranked-amp tone at much more manageable volumes. By placing it between your tube amp's speaker output and your speaker, you can turn your amp to its max, while bringing the volume down via the PS1. The attenuator's Emulated Mic Output simulates the feel and sound of a great speaker cab and sends that tone direct to the console — perfect for recording or live performance without a mic. If you love the sound of your amp cranked up, you'll want to put a Bugera PS1 in your collection.Stadium tone at bedroom levels Tube amp volume levels are an issue we all deal with.

    Cheap and effective.

The PS-1 from Behringer is an easy to use power attenuator. I have several 50 watt amps that sound great, but sound even better fully cranked. I've tried more expensive attenuators, and this one performs as well as those, at a fraction of the cost. The option for 4, 8 or 16 ohm cabs is one feature not all high end models come with. Not a big fan of the tone from the line out/speaker emulator, but i record mainly through my SM57 mic, so no problem there. I would recommend this power soak to anyone who wishes to tame their way too loud amp at a really cheap cost.

Inexpensive solution at the cost of your guitar tone

I'd recommend this from the standpoint of it being an inexpensive solution that has the flexibility of handling different inputs as well as being able to use it with 4,8 & 16 ohm speakers. However, nowhere does it say that the max power you can get back is 50% of your original signal. Also, the tone is pretty significantly altered. You can adjust your EQ on your amp (add highs/presence) but there is still something lacking. If you used pedals to drive the tone (especially fuzz boxes) then this tone-sucking element is less important since some pedals drives your tone.

This device works excellent on my recently purchased fender amp. Very easy to hook up and works perfectly, fits nicely inside the amp and easy to adjust. Works better than expected. Quality product, worth every penny.

  • Keeping the Peace

It definitely does the job. My girl, and the dogs don’t hate me anymore. Not to mention the neighbors. I’m using it on a Hiwatt DR103, so the 100 watts make it get hot, but not to the point it would damage the tolex of the amp head. Of course it robs a bit of tone quality, but for everything you gain, you have to give something up.

  • Great product. Great price.

Great product. Does what they say it will do. Running my 100w Carvin through it. Allows me to get a nice natural tube break up at a reasonable volume. Amp is set between 2-3 volume on both channels. On channel two the drive is set at 8-10 depending on what I'm playing. These levels will blow you out of the basement. You can barely feel any heat from the unit. But I did try pushing it towards the upper end of what the amp can put out and the attenuator got pretty hot. So if you are wanting to buy this to run your amp wide open and then turning the attenuator all the way down, I would not suggest it. But if you want some great natural tones at a reasonable volume it works perfect. And doesn't have to work hard to make that happen

  • If you have a tube amp, you need to buy this!

If you have a 50 watt -100 Watt tube amp you definitely need this! I have a 100 Watt Marshall JVM 410H and a Marshall 1960 4- 12 Bottom. The head has a master volume so you can play at low levels but the sound is thin. If you crank it to 6 plus the amp is amazing but it is extremely loud. I finally decided to buy a Attenuator, after a lot of research I bought the Bugera PS1 and it is amazing! I can get unbelievable tone at whisper levels with no effects. It allows the amp to breath and open up. Set up is simple, all you need is a good quality speaker cable and you are good to go. I have had this amp for 8 plus years and have never had so much fun. My Marshall sounds like a Marshall, my Les Paul sounds like a Les Paul and the same with my Strat. You need to buy this and sell your effects!

  • Awesome Deal !!!

Great value for the money! Honestly I do not like using an attenuator because the tone controls on the amp don’t work but I have to with my 100 watt Plexi. I use a Weber Mass 150 in front of the Bugera because I like the Weber tone control but they are very touchy at low volume. The Bugera fixed that!

  • Bugera 100 watt, $99.00 attenuator.

I have only used this once, so I don't know how long it will last, with very good results. I used it with a 50 watt V plex head and 4x10 cab, which is a 68 plexiglass marshal circuit and very loud. It brought the volume down well to a managable amount and it sounded very good to my ears as well. I didn't even EQ the amp. I only cranked the master volume and and preamp gain a bit more. It sounded very good and natural, good for recording or playing live. I will mic the amp so I haven't used the direct or line out. SO FAR this is well worth the cost!

  • Don’t give up on using your tube amp at home!!!

Does exactly what I was hoping; allows med to play my 60 watt Fender SuperSonic at bedroom levels while getting the tube tone and saturation. I am running my amp at 5-6 of main channel and 7 on 2nd. At 15-20% I get plenty of tone w/out digging my neighbors or my own earning! :)

  • I have used this with both the Bugera G20 and a Marshall JCM 900 4100. Works great with both. I usually use the Marshall on 50 watt mode,
