  • 2nd Gen Console

Made in 1978 and still a fun console. Most people go for - and remember best - the Atari 2600 from this era. However, I had this system and Atari and loved it this one more. I just picked up a console from eBay and even now these games hold up. I think Odyssey 2 has the same big games as Atari but they are more fun here; people who play both versions tend to agree. Most people don’t recognize this system but I always can have them play a game on it they’ll like, even 44 years later. I think this is a great pickup and addition to anyone’s collection, I’m certainly glad I got it again!

  • A piece of history well worth owning again.

In a house fire, a couple of years ago, I lost the Odyssey game my mother had bought when I was a child, and I knew it was one of the possessions that would be important for me to replace. It is interesting to see the cult following this system has developed over the decades, considering how limited their original success was compared to Atari, Nintendo, and even Intellivision. But the Odyssey, with its challenging games and (for the time) complex algorithms was ahead of its time, and if anything is more appreciated now than when it was being made. When mine went up in smoke, it was a loss not just to me, but to fans of the system. Each one that passes out of existence will never really be replaced. I'm glad I could "replace" mine, but there is still one less Odyssey in the universe.
