    TI - 89 for Dummies

It was good foe me, much easier to understand than the Original Manual, But I'm one of the dummies lol To be honest the Calculator is far more powerfull that I expected, which is cool ! just that I will never use it yo its full capcity. Thats where the bokkis so helpful , I can cherry pick for my needs Love the book and blown away by the calculator. If I'd had one of these back in the lare 70's i could have sat my exams in the house lol.

  • Worth the money, but could be SO much better...

The book started off very strong. The first part (Chapters 1 & 2) were filled with excellent how-to information that was not included in the manual that came with the calculator. Beginning with Part II (Chapter 3), however, it pretty much fell flat on its face. Examples became quite sparse, relying mostly on calculator screenshots to show what the author was trying to get across, and since the text often scrolled off the right of the screen, those examples were impossible to follow since there is no way to scroll the screen on a printed page. I'm just glad there was enough good information early on to make it worth the purchase price since I got totally lost starting with Chapter 3. So far the remainder of the book has done me no good at all since I need a mathematician to explain it to ...

  • Representative..

It is the only manual I was able to find the most info in one place. I use it frequently as a reference since my TI89 can perform so many tasks that I cannot remember the correct syntax. In some cases, it does not have instructions for advanced math calculation (Calc II college level)

  • A very good how-to book.

This is all you need to learn how to use the TI-89 graphing calculator. It's a 7 by 9" book with easy to read print. I recommend it.

  • Pretty Good book

I'm a 70 year old technical person trying to brush up on some long lost math skills and recently bought a used TI-89 titanium and a TI-36 Pro. Boy would it have been nice to have had either of these back in school BUT while a fancy calculator will take the drudgery out of the "plug and chug" part of math (and reduce careless errors), it will not help you understand the math you don't already know...and neither will this book. The TI-89 is a powerful calculator with a fairly steep learning curve and it is very good for checking your work when doing complicated algebra, trigonometry or calculus problems. This book will show you how to use the calculator to solve the problems, but it will not teach you the underlying math if you don't already know it.
